This clinic is for riders who already have basic balance and control of the horse and who want to take it to the next level. We will be teaching you all about equitation.
The main focus of the clinic is developing a skillful and balanced control of a horse by rider. Attending these clinics will give you good fundamentals that are the same regardless what are your riding goals. You will be able to further build on that to learn dressage, jumping, working equitation, and a variety of other disciplines. Even if your goal is just trail riding, we will teach you how to have a better control over your horse and how to avoid common mistakes that can cause problems.
Main skills that we will be focusing on:
- Lightness- how to have your horse respond immediately to the slightest request from the rider
- Balance- you will develop a better seat, and body position. We will help you become more confident and avoid common problems such as back and knee pain. As well as teach you how to minimize the impact of your body weight on the horse
- Collection- we will teach you how to collect all body parts of the horse to create engagement and suppleness without causing hyperflexion
- Brio- we will teach you how to harness horse's enthusiasm, vigor, and willingness to perform
- Communication with the horse- we will be working on your cues and achieving what you are requesting. Not two horses are identical- what works on one will not work on another. We will teach you how to achieve your goals on any horse, not just how to ride the horse that you happen to be riding during the clinic
We will be only using the finest of our horses for these rides. All of them have had at least 2 years of schooling and are ready to perform. If you come to multiple clinics we will make sure to switch up your horses so you can get a variety of experiences and challenges.
On top of the riding skills we will be also teaching you horsemanship. The whole clinic is about 3 hours long. That includes the time to groom and tack your horse, about 90 minutes of very intense riding (you WILL be tired), and then aftercare.
