BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER- If you have not ridden with us recently, this booking is not for you. Reach out and book lessons or other trail rides, before you book this event.
Want to try endurance-style riding without diving into a full competition? Or maybe you’re just looking to log serious trail miles in a short time. Either way, this 3-day training camp is for you.
We’ll ride about 20 miles each day in a different location, trailering out from our ranch in Palmdale, CA. The terrain, scenery, and pace will vary—some rides are steady climbs through high desert hills, others cruise through riverbeds or open grasslands. You’ll stay in our cozy guesthouse (private bedroom, shared kitchen and bathroom), and spend the days riding responsive, fit horses in some of the best training environments Southern California has to offer.
Every camp includes three different trail rides, chosen from our collection of favorite routes. Each group gets a slightly different experience—no two camps are exactly the same. Some examples of what you might ride:
- High Desert Mountain Ride – A steady 20-mile loop with long climbs, open stretches, and incredible views of the Antelope Valley. This route is ideal for building rhythm and endurance. Expect desert landscape with scattered Joshua trees, winding dirt roads, and challenging but rewarding hills.
- Norco: “Horsetown USA” – This one’s part wild, part weird, and totally fun. We start with sandy riverbed trails, ride into the foothills, then head straight into town on horse-friendly streets. We’ll stop for lunch at a local spot with hitching rails out front—just like the old west meets suburban California.
- Wind Wolves Wilderness Ride – One of the most scenic and peaceful routes we ride. Open meadows, oak groves, rolling hills, and the chance to spot wildlife like tule elk or hawks. Great footing and wide views make this a perfect day to relax into the miles and let the horse cover ground.
-
Red Rock Loop (near Rosamond) – A dramatic ride through colorful rock formations and high desert terrain. This area feels remote and rugged, and the trails here are wide and varied—perfect for a conditioning day with a view.
-
Saddle Butte State Park – Open space riding with a mix of canyons and ridgelines. Lots of elevation change and big skies. A great trail for testing stamina and building a strong partnership with your horse.
-
Big Bear Backcountry Ride – Crisp mountain air, pine trees, and some of the most scenic trails in SoCal. Expect a slower pace due to elevation and terrain, but the setting makes it worth it.
-
San Gabriel Mountain Route – Higher elevation riding with panoramic views, forested trails, and some narrow technical sections that challenge both horse and rider. A favorite for more experienced groups.
Other rides may include canyons, coastal hills, or mountain routes—depending on weather, trail conditions, and group interest. But every day will bring new scenery and a solid training ride -
